Mother / Daughter Letters

Thank you Pinterest for the great idea. The Pinterest pin talked about writing letters back and forth with your daughter. I just loved the idea to start a dialog with Mouse that we could continue through high school (or at least that is my hope).
This weekend Mouse and I headed to Achiever's to pick out a journal. We wanted it to be a mix of letters and Smash Journal. This SNAP journal fit our needs perfectly. The journal comes as a three ring binder with journal pages, dividers and photo holders (kind of a Project Life/ Scrapbooking / Smash mix).
We couldn't just leave the cover blank now could we. Mouse picked out a packet of quotes for the book. I chose this one for the cover. Then we mod podged a vintage photo, lace and tag to the cover.
I started off the book with a letter to Mouse. I started the journal as more of scrapbook page with a letter written on the white parts.

I loved that I got to use this old picture of Mouse. She has always loved writing. We have notebooks, journals and scrap paper all over the house with her stories in it. So far we've written a few letters back and forth (she is a little excited right now). I hope as time goes on the length of time between letters will increase, while the thought involved in the letters increase.

I also hope that this gives her a space to voice hopes, dreams and fears that she may not be able to say in person to me but feels more comfortable writing.

Space-tastic Party

I've mentioned that Mouse is completely fascinated with the galaxy and I may have mentioned it here too. And thanks to Pinterest Mouse was inspired to have the solar system at her party.

I am so proud of her planets. She worked hard on them with Grandpa, he taught her how to use an airbrush.  They even made the rings!

We strung them up around the living room with some hanging stars.
No Mouse birthday can be complete with out some kind of craft this year's was sun catchers.
Then we stopped for some cupcakes and ice cream.
Mouse added her sparkly new hat for the party. She sparkled just like the stars.
The girls also played some galaxy bingo. Which I thought they would get bored with but they loved it.
Here's to 10 years Mouse!!

Pinterest Inspiration Week ~ Day Five

My family has to be Pinterest crazy. We always checking the site for ideas, recipes and just for fun. So this week I am doing my Pinterest Inspired posts. These will be from various pins through out our Pinterest File.

It was definately time to get my roots done againa nd with spring on it's way I thought it was time to start going lighter again. When I saw this pin or this pin I knew it was what I wanted.

Which is really just a shade lighter then I currently am. And the dark top keeps me from needing a touch up so often. Now if those pesky white hairs would quit growing I would be much better.
Then my friend and hair stylist comes over and does her magic. And I end up with this...

I love it! She does such a good job. The picture just doesn't do all the shades justice.

And there ends my week of Pinterest Inspiration, hope you've enjoyed it.

Pinterest Inspiration Week ~ Day Four

My family has to be Pinterest crazy. We always checking the site for ideas, recipes and just for fun. So this week I am doing my Pinterest Inspired posts. These will be from various pins through out our Pinterest File.

Another area I use Pinterest is for Scrapbooking inspiration. I am always looking for new styles and products. In this Pin, I loved all the different patterns and lengths.

When using Pinterest or any inspiration piece you don't have to follow it exactly. You want to have your own spin to the project. As in this case I had to make a few adjustments to mine layout, my pictures were to big to do a vertical design. So I switched it up a bit and did the multi-strips off to the side.

I also do mostly two page layouts, which really seem to be a thing of the past but I take to many pictures to only do one page.

Hope this inspires you to check out Pinterest next time you are scrapbooking.

Pinterest Inspiration Week ~ Day Three

** Forgot to post this morning, sorry**
My family has to be Pinterest crazy. We always checking the site for ideas, recipes and just for fun. So this week I am doing my Pinterest Inspired posts. These will be from various pins through out our Pinterest File.

Day three lands us on Wednesday which means its also What I Wore day. Not wanting to miss out on linking up with Lindsey and the other girls I am bringing my Pinterest Week to them. When I saw this outfit on Pinterest I realized I had all the pieces to make this outfit.
I am always looking at new ways to wear my black maxi skirt. This outfit has a great pulled together look but still casual.  Being winter here I thought I would pair this with some boots instead of flip flops.

I am happy with the way the outfit matched the pinterest page. And my husband was happy, all of this was in my closet already, no shopping required!

Linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy and the rest the WIWW girls.

Pinterest Inspiration Week ~ Day Two

My family has to be Pinterest crazy. We always checking the site for ideas, recipes and just for fun. So this week I am doing my Pinterest Inspired posts. These will be from various pins through out our Pinterest File.

Day Two brings us to what I use Pinterest the most for RECIPES! I am constantly looking through for new tried and true recipes.
I am always looking for German recipes since Steve is a huge fan of German food. Which means I was ecstatic when I saw this slow cooker Sauerbraten meal.

The meal was easy to put together following the recipe exactly. The only issue I had was that the meat dried out a lot. But I will blame that on we got held up run errands and let the meat cook for two hours longer than it should have. The sauce was perfect though, even with the crazy addition of ground ginger snaps.
I have to give Steve credit if it wasn't for him I don't think I would have realized how good German food is, especially Spetzel.

Pinterest Week ~ Day One

My family has to be Pinterest crazy. We always checking the site for ideas, recipes and just for fun. So this week I am doing my Pinterest Inspired posts. These will be from various pins through out our Pinterest File.

Let's get this week started! Here is my inspiration post.

I started with some DIY bracelets. I have loved the look of the multi layers for a while now but haven't found the right style at the store. But when Mouse and her friend decided they wanted to make friendship bracelets the idea hit me to make my own.
I started with a tennis bracelet that I haven't worn in years and added some embroidery floss around the edges.

Next I added a silver charm to a standard friendship bracelet style. Wow, it's been awhile since I made one of these I remember it being way easier then it was.
My final one was just a quick ribbon addition to an old chain bracelet.
Add those to a few that already had the look and the fashion Pinterest inspiration was achieved.
