True to myself

Fridays I fluctuate between Five Minute Fridays and InstaFriday. But we are all community here, right? They can be combined into one post.
So I write for Five minute, no edits, no re dos and at the end I will see if there are pictures from this week that match the words of this week.
Topic: True

Some people are always just able to be their true selves, not caring how the 'world' views them. I was not one of those people. I wasn't to bad, we didn't have the income or the time to go to far down the Jones road, but I still cared.
I struggled and faltered.
But age, marriage, motherhood, Faith has changed me. I am becoming OK with who I am.
I am the bacon (don't care about the calories) ordering because my kid thinks its cool person
I am the Bible devotion caring it my purse everyday person, because I have come to realize my Faith defines me.
I am a Minnesotan, but the ocean calls to me, feeds my soul like nothing else.
When I am truly myself, I am a better person, wife and mother.

  1. Cassi, I loved what you had to say! From my own experience, it seems to take years to be true to ourselves and who we really are. If we can step out of who we think everyone else wants us to be, we can be true to ourselves.....even if it involves bacon! ;-)

  2. I would like to go back to my younger self and talk some sense into her. It's so true that it takes all these things to finally be ok with ourselves. There are still little things that we may not realize creep up every now and's always a work in progress. Keep staying true to who you are, friend! And how do you like that devotional? One of my favorites is: A Woman After God's Own Heart by Elizabeth George.

  3. sigh... :) I am better when I am myself, too. It makes me happy to like myself, and to hear that you are learning to like yourself, too. :D

Thanks for stopping by! We love to read your comments. In this crazy world it sometimes takes me a bit to get back to you right away, but please know that we are trying, especially if you ask a question or invite us over to your blog.
