"In joy and in sorrow"
This weekend we had the honor to witness Steve’s cousin’s wedding. We also received the news that his Uncle passed away.
This made for an emotional weekend. The bride and who would be her great uncle were pretty close. When she said those words to her now husband there weren’t too many dry eyes in the house. Not many think that joy and sorrow will be the same day or so soon.
In many ways it was great joy and sorrow for everyone. Their wedding focused on family and the love family has for one another. And as we all gathered the days before, during and after the wedding you could feel the closeness.
For the bridal couple their happiness and love shown through so well that it cut through the sorrow and was a beacon of joy.
In the sermon the pastor quote from the hymn "Leaning on Everlasting Arms" how true those lyrics were that day.
"What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.
Leaning, leaning,
Safe and secure from all alarms;
Leaning, leaning,
Leaning on the everlasting arms."
Safe and secure from all alarms;
Leaning, leaning,
Leaning on the everlasting arms."
Their ceremony was one of the funniest I have ever been to. They truly know how to be there for each other in Joy and in Sorrow. It was a great example for all.
