This weekend not only did we visit other religious institutions but the kids and adult chaperones did some work through out the cities. We first stopped at a thrift shop run by the Hennepin United Methodist, were their proceeds from the shop go back to the community. At that stop we cleaned and sorted donated merchandise. Then we moved on to Emma Norton's a transitional house unit for woman how are homeless and struggling with addiction.
There they put us to work. All 8 teens and five adults were given some pretty hard tasks. Myself, Pastor and a few of the girls were lifting and sorting hundred pound bags. The rest were washing walls and scrubbing carpets. It was tough work, especially after working for a few hours elsewhere before hand.
But what was amazing is not once did these kids complain about being there or working to help the shelter. They were such a true testament to God's love to the people. Afterwards we had dinner with the ladies from the shelter, during that the worker announced who we were and what we had done. The women were so grateful for all the work that had been done.
And I was so proud and amazed at how might these teens are.
Great is the Lord, He is holy, faithful, merciful and just;
Great is the Lord, He is worthy of all the glory, honor, power and praise.
Great is the Lord, He is wonderful and mighty,
We trust in His power and His love!
Great are you Lord!!! Job 9:4

I remember vividly the mission trips I took as a teen with my parents and our church. What a blessing for those you worked with and for the teens to experience the work.
